Citizens Serving to Make a Good Community Better
ANNOUNCEMENT : The Decatur Township Civic Council invoked a section of our By Laws that allows the Executive Committee to take actions on behalf of the organization between meetings of the Membership. These actions must be ratified or rejected by the members at the next scheduled meeting.
The Executive Committee voted to oppose the Sabey data center petition. Therefore, at the January 26 meeting of the Civic Council, the members will ratify or reject this action by voting on the proposal itself.
This pathway allows the Land Use Committee to adequately coordinate, activate, and prepare for a hearing downtown before the Hearing Examiner, January 29, on this critical issue facing our community, should the members vote to oppose this petition.
ANNOUNCEMENT : According to the DTCC By Laws, the Executive Committee may take actions on behalf of the organization between meetings of the Membership. Any such action must be ratified or rejected by a vote of the Members at the next monthly meeting. Using this stipulation of the By Laws, the Executive Committee has, this one time, reduced the waiting period for new Members' right to vote from 45 days to 30 days. The 30 day limit, if ratified, would allow anyone who becomes a member by the end of Dec 28 to be able to vote at our Jan 26 meeting.
